I’m Sergio Maiis, a fashion and editorial photographer based in Istanbul. Every month I work with artists, DJs, musicians, actors, and models, creating cover art, promotional campaigns, editorial shoots, Spotify visuals, social media content, cinematic portraits, and fashion-inspired music photography.

Working with artists is one of my favorite parts of photography. Music, style, emotion, and the atmosphere of Istanbul create something unique every single time. These projects feel more like creating visual stories than simply taking photographs.

Today, visual identity is an essential part of the music industry. Before people even listen to a track, they see the artist’s image, album cover, Instagram page, or promotional visuals. Strong photography helps create a recognizable identity, emotional connection, and premium artistic image. My goal is always to create visuals that feel cinematic, stylish, emotional, and timeless.

My photography style combines fashion aesthetics, editorial storytelling, cinematic atmosphere, luxury visuals, and modern street culture. Because of my experience in the fashion industry and collaborations with international models and brands, I naturally bring fashion-inspired aesthetics into music-related projects. The result looks closer to a magazine campaign or album visual than standard commercial photography.

One of the reasons artists love shooting in Istanbul is the incredible diversity of locations. In one city, it’s possible to create luxury rooftop content overlooking the Bosphorus, cinematic street photography in old neighborhoods, underground editorial visuals in garages and industrial areas, yacht lifestyle campaigns, and modern studio productions. Istanbul offers a unique combination of luxury, chaos, history, and contemporary culture that gives every photoshoot a distinctive atmosphere.

I regularly work on artist branding, cover art photography, editorial campaigns, and social media visuals for DJs, singers, producers, performers, influencers, and creative brands. Modern artists constantly need new content for Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, press releases, posters, and streaming platforms, and Istanbul is one of the best cities to produce a large variety of visual content within just a few days.

For me, photographing artists is always more than commercial work. It’s a collaboration between music, fashion, cinema, and emotion. Every month I continue shooting artists and DJs in Istanbul, creating visuals, covers, campaigns, and stories — and honestly, I still enjoy this process as much as when I first started photography.
